When I was in one of my final classes in college, I remember the teacher asking us “What do you want to do when you graduate?” I said I wanted to use my finance degree for real estate investing. After I graduated I took a job at Enterprise and simply forgot about real estate. I was working to get by at this point. Fast forward a few years, two babies, and one cross country move later and I am finally back to real estate.
Thank you Real Agent Guard for sponsoring today’s post!
With the support of Ryon, family and friends I went back to school to get my real estate license. I was finally back on track to do what I had dreamed of o many years ago! While I was taking classes I even met my future brokers wife at ballet. Both of our girls were in ballet together and we started chatting one day. Turns out her husband owns real estate company that was looking for agents. After chatting with Joseph and learning about EXIT Realty, I signed on with them the day I passed my test!
I have fallen so in love with all things real estate. My office is full of amazing agents, I make my own hours, I get to view homes all week and best of all – I get to help people find or sell their home! I have always known that I wanted to do something that helped people, that would make a difference in their lives. I get to do that and more with real estate. And I love it!
But with any job there can be dangers and downfalls. One of the biggest is not knowing what can happen when you meet a client or hold an open house. It can be scary to be in a house alone with a person that you just met. You hate to think the worst, but you have to worry a bit of what might happen. And open houses can be just as dangerous. You basically advertise that you are alone in a home for hours waiting on potential customers.
Real agent guard is an app that was created to prevent such dangerous situations from happening. When you go to show a home or have an open house you open the app and set it for a specific amount of time. If you fail to check in with the app within that amount of time, someone in your office is alerted. Here is a little more info on the app:
- Red – agents. Blue – friends and family. Green – enterprise.
- If the agent fails to login after a small amount of time, it alerts someone who calls them to check in.
- If something does go wrong, they can forward all info to the police
It’s so reassuring to know that there is an app that looks out for real estate agents. It makes me that much more confident in the career that I chose!
