The kids love to go to Starbucks as much as I do. They get pink lollipops or pink cake pops to most. So if I go to get coffee, they know its pink lollipop time.
I grabbed three coffees and two pink lollipops last Friday. No, they weren’t all for me.
I stopped by my mommas work and dropped off two of the coffees. One to my momma and one to her best friend, Ruthie.
Ruthie works in HR and when I was a temp there, I got to see them both everyday. So I stopped by Ruthie’s office first to bring her coffee and say hi. The kids were with and sat semi-quietly eating there pink lollipops while we chatted.
The kids started getting antsy so we walked to the waiting area to look at the big fish tank. We continue to chat and I look over and Ryley is trying to climb on the fish tank and Avery is running in circles around the coffee table. Sans shoes.
I’m horrified and try to get them to behave for a little while longer. Ruthie just laughs because they remind her of her kiddos when they were younger.
My mom and her have been friends since my younger brother [who is now almost 29] was in kindergarten.
My brother and Ruthie’s son were in the same class. The moms bonded and have been friends ever since.
So in reality, I’ve been friends with Ruthie since then as well. We get along so well too.
We have a mutual love for coffee and picking on my mom. What more does a friendship need?
