Im Running a 5k!

Ive been training for a 5k for awhile using the Couch to 5 k program and I am so excited to say that I have signed up for a run!  And not just any race.. but the most amazing 5k run!  [This has not been proven but since its my first race it stands.. plus its pretty awesome looking.]  Im going to be running the 5k Foam Fest in April with some of my friends!

My friends that I am running with are avid runners and ran Foam Fest last month.  [They can attest to its greatness.]  Last night I went with them to an event at the university and accidentally ran a 3 mile run.  I didnt intend to run the race but I decided it would be good practice for Foam Fest.  It turned out to be a ton of fun because the kids were there.  Ryley and I ran the first half mile together and it cracked me up.  I love that she has an interest in running.

I know some of yall are runners and that running a 5k sounds like a walk in the park – but I am not a runner.  People say that running clears their head and they can think clearer but when I was running the only thing I was thinking was how much I hate running.  Running and I dont get along but I am determined to like it and fully intend to run all of Foam Fest.

So to all my running friends – what do you love about running?  What do you do to train for a run?  I would love love love to hear your tips and tricks!

I’ve seriously been wanting to run a 5k, but running one mile would be quite the feat for me! Good luck sweety!!

  2. Have fun on the run – races are the best! I love the ”me” time included in running – even if I’m pushing a jogger that day. To train for a race, I up my mileage well above what the race will be. For instance, for one of my races this year, the 10K (a little over 6 miles), I made sure to have about 5 miles each weekday, and around 8 on Saturday. The long runs on Saturday are the most important. I ended up winning in my age group, and had such a fun experience! Good luck on your race! Have a blast!

  3. Congratulations, Kelley. I have run many 5k, a few 10k, one 25k and 2 half marathons. But the majority of my runs I think, “why in the world am I doing this?”=) But, I think you will find it addictive. And it pays off.

I love that I usually have more energy when I am running and exercising. I also love being outside and having time with no one interrupting me. I can actually have complete thoughts…even if they are…”how much longer.” lol!
Way to go at doing it even though your not sure you really like it. I bet the race will be so much fun!
    Take care,

You are awesome! Brave. Seriously. If I ran a 5K it would be because I was trying to outrun an ax murderer. And I wouldn’t make it.

So much fun!!! It was my 2nd mud run, I did Muddy Buddy in Austin with my sister in May & this was the Dirty Girl Run here in SA. I need to find my next race, if I keep signing up for races I keep running. Keep up your running you will appreciate the results even if you don’t enjoy the running. Though you might just find one day that you like running more than you think!
