Hey yall!  Can you believe it has been six months already?  Today is my final post for the Shaklee180 weightloss program!  I just have to say that it was an amazing 6 months!  There were high points and low points but I got through it and Im ready to continue on.  Im going to share my vlog and it will tell you how much weight and how many inches I have lost.  Then Ill share some before and after photos.  Cool?  Cool!

I am so very proud of myself for losing and keeping off that weight!  Some of the ladies in the Shaklee180 group lost over 40 pounds!  Awesome, right?!  Its such a great way to start your new healthy lifestyle!  Here are my before and after photos:

shaklee before and after

I really don’t even know what to say.  I feel like my face is thinner as well as my whole midsection.  My total inches lost were:

  • Chest -1.5
  • Hips -2.5
  • Arms -1
  • Thighs -3
  • Total – 9 inches GONE!

side view

Clearly I was not amused in the before picture!  But my arms are more toned and my midsection is smaller.  I still have a few more [thousand] situps to but I am so so happy with where Im at right now.

back view

And this is where I can see the most difference!  Just so much has changed!  And I worked hard for that change yall!  Because lets be honest – who loves back fat?  NOT me!  So I worked hard to tone my arms and back the past six months.  Also, you can see some definition in my legs, which makes me want to hug somebody.  [You’ve been warned.]

thank you Shaklee

Yall, this has been an amazing journey and I am so so happy I got to share it with you.  I am so grateful to have been apart of the Shaklee180 blogger program.  You know what I said my application?  My reason for wanting to lose weight was so that I would be able to look in the mirror and be happy with what I see.  Honestly, before I was not happy with my body.  I shied away from mirrors and had major body issues.  Now?  I smile at myself in the mirror like a goofball.  I love the changes that I have seen in myself physically and mentally.  And my journey is not over!  In fact, I think its just beginning for me.  Thank you Shaklee180 – you’ve helped create a better me.

So I have some good news and some better news.  The good news is I haven’t given up on my weight loss journey.  [That’s huge for me, yall!]  I haven’t lost any more weight, still holding strong at 17-ish pounds, but I am gaining muscle.  Which is awesome!  When I started Shaklee my goal was to ultimately lose weight and be a healthy role model for my kids.  Im happy with my weight lose and we are making better choices as a family, which is awesome!  But I haven’t lost anymore weight.  Which is ok.  Through this journey I’ve realized that those three little numbers don’t define my progress.

I shared this picture on instagram.  There is some muscle in there!  I have been lifting weights for the past few months and its starting to pay off.  Seeing this progress, having my clothes fit great and having more energy is what keeps me going.  Some days are better then others and I’ve learned that its a daily struggle to be healthy.

And not only is it a daily struggle but its an hourly battle to eat right.  Some days I do great and some days I want to eat everything sight.  The good thing about the second one is I don’t have a bunch of junk in the house anymore.  I have not only started eating healthy, but I have almost purged the house of processed foods.  Its something that I did for myself as well as my little family.  Im even of thinking of giving up sugar for a month.  WHAT?!  I know.  Crazy stuff, yall.

The even better news is that a bunch of the Shaklee bloggers and I are giving away a Turn Around Kit to one lucky winner!  Eeek!  Im so excited for whoever wins.  It seriously is the best thing to kick start your new healthy lifestyle.

Work Those Abs

Last week I talked about how I was in a funk and I had fallen off the diet/exercise wagon.  Im happy to report that not only have I jumped back on, but I lost another pound!  I am down a total of almost 17 pounds since I started Shaklee.  [!!!!!]  Excited does not begin to explain how I feel when I realize how far I’ve come.

I love working out now.  At first I could care less about it and didn’t like getting sweaty.  I worried that people at the gym were looking at me because I was fat.  [Sad but true.]  Now, I love going.  I bought new workout clothes and I try and get as sweaty as possible.  I get to the gym 3 days a week and do arms one day, legs one day and abs on Friday.  I love ab day.  This is my basic ab routine I do..

beginner ab routine

I do each exercise for 30 seconds and then rest for 30 seconds.  I then do 5 burpees to get my heart rate back up and start the routine all over again.  Its a pretty easy routine but if you do it fast enough and keep your heart rate up you will really feel it in the morning.  Next to burpees, my second hated exercise is plank.  Oh plank.  I love to hate you.

Thats how you do a fat girl version of a plank.  [Kidding.]  Try and get your butt as low as possible and hold it as long as you can.  I once saw a guy put a 25 pound weight on his back.  He be crazy.  Here is how I look after an ab routine..

My husband is a lucky lucky man!  I had a lady tell me today that I looked so skinny.  I kissed her.  [Kidding.]  But I am excited to keep on swimming in my weight loss journey.  I love the results and more importantly I love the way I feel.

What keeps you motivated to work out?

Off the Wagon

We have had family in town for the past two weeks and I have to admit – I have fallen off the wagon.  Hard.  I have not been to the gym in over a week, I have worked out at home, I havent even really thought about it to be honest.  I know that this will put a huge dent in my weight loss, but I just fell into a funk.

hardwork

I also ate whatever I wanted.  I had a meal bar every now and then but I indulged far more then I should have.  The plus side is that my idea of indulging now is far less then when I started the program.  I could eat and eat before I started Shaklee.  Now I seem to get full faster and not want to gorge myself.  Ill count that as a plus!

I’ve also noticed that when I eat processed foods I don’t feel so great.  My head starts to hurt and I lose all my energy.  I take time to think before I eat things because I don’t like feeling like that.  I don’t like feeling foggy because I had a candy bar.  Another benefit that has come from using Shaklee and working out.

numbers

But I am excited to get back to the gym.  I miss it.  Sometimes Ill see my arm in the mirror and catch a little definition in the muscle.  It makes me giddy.  It makes me want to keep going.  I am really loving this weight loss journey and even if I fall off the wagon every once and while – I am committed to my health.

Have you ever fallen off the healthy band wagon?  How did you jump back on?

I’m am so excited to share this update with yall!  As you might know I’m a Shaklee 180 blogger and I have been on the program for almost 3 months now.  Each month I share a little update on my weight loss journey.  This month I am done a total for 15 pounds!  Wanna know how I do it?  Here are the top 3 healthy changes to make today I’ve made to help me drop the lbs.

1. Drink water.

great motivation to drink more water

Seriously, this is my number one tip to help shed the weight.  Start slow, drink one bottle of water your first day.  Try for two the next day.  Keep adding more water until you are drinking it all day.  It helps suppresses your appetite, keep you energized, detoxes the body and so much more.  Im trying to drink a gallon a day and to keep me motivated I made my water jug sassy.  [I got this idea from my sweet friend Shelly!]

2. Eat Clean [er]

20130521_112512

You need the right food to fuel your body and it isn’t a cheeseburger and fries.  [Although I wish it was some days.]  Eat food that help you and not hurt you.  Eat non-processed foods.  Im trying to eat more fruits and vegetables and as organic as possible.  Im not going to lie, its hard!  Processed food is everywhere and it taste so good.  I just have to make the decision to help my body instead of hurt it.

3. Sweat

at the gym working on my fitness

I love to get good and sweaty at the gym.  I feel better during the day and it helps my metabolism.  I try to work out at least 3 days a week.  When I first started going it wasn’t easy.  Gyms are intimidating.  I would zone out and just try and get through my workout.  Now I crave the gym.  Sounds silly, I know.  I didn’t think that I would ever want to go to the gym.  But I’m seeing results and I want to push myself more and more each trip.

What healthy changes have you made in your life?

Im losing.  This statement can be applied to many things.  Such as Im losing my mind or Im losing my money [kids are expensive yall!].  What Im currently losing is weight.  Im down 9 pounds from last month thanks to Shaklee.  At one point I was down to 199.4 so I bought new shoes since I met my first big goal – lose 10 pounds.

weight lost with shaklee

I have followed the Shaklee 180 program for a month and have seen great results.  The amazing thing is I havent worked out in a while.  Im simply losing body fat on the program and by making health-ier choices.  Im not going to lie, the other night I had sweet potato chips and cookies for dinner.  I just make sure to take a Shaklee Metabolic Boost after each meal and drink tons of water.  I mean tons of water.

Sounds crazy, right?  Im just happy that even though I have an off day that I am able to continue to lose weight.  The last few months I have been working full time and I havent been able to work out.  I hope to get back into my workout routine and post even better results next month.  I personally dont feel any smaller or think I look like Ive lost weight but my clothes are very loose and friends tell me I look skinnier.  And I might have kissed them.  [Kidding!]

My beginning measurements were:

  • Chest – 43′
  • Hips – 46′
  • Waist – 44′
  • Arms – 14′
  • Thigh – 25′

My current measurements are:

  • Chest – 42 1/4′
  • Hips – 44 1/2′
  • Waist – 41 1/2′
  • Arm – 14 1/2′
  • Thigh – 24 1/2′

My goals for this next month are to continue to drink water until it comes out my ears and get back into my work out routine.  Im going to start the couch to 5k program again and try the naturally sisters April challenge.  I hope to post even better results in my next update post!
