Real Agent Guard – Keeping Real Estate Agents Safe

When I was in one of my final classes in college, I remember the teacher asking us “What do you want to do when you graduate?”  I said I wanted to use my finance degree for real estate investing.  After I graduated I took a job at Enterprise and simply forgot about real estate.  I was working to get by at this point.  Fast forward a few years, two babies, and one cross country move later and I am finally back to real estate.

Thank you Real Agent Guard for sponsoring today’s post!

With the support of Ryon, family and friends I went back to school to get my real estate license.  I was finally back on track to do what I had dreamed of o many years ago!  While I was taking classes I even met my future brokers wife at ballet.  Both of our girls were in ballet together and we started chatting one day.  Turns out her husband owns real estate company that was looking for agents.  After chatting with Joseph and learning about EXIT Realty, I signed on with them the day I passed my test!

I have fallen so in love with all things real estate.  My office is full of amazing agents, I make my own hours, I get to view homes all week and best of all – I get to help people find or sell their home!  I have always known that I wanted to do something that helped people, that would make a difference in their lives.  I get to do that and more with real estate.  And I love it!

But with any job there can be dangers and downfalls.  One of the biggest is not knowing what can happen when you meet a client or hold an open house.  It can be scary to be in a house alone with a person that you just met.  You hate to think the worst, but you have to worry a bit of what might happen.  And open houses can be just as dangerous.  You basically advertise that you are alone in a home for hours waiting on potential customers.

Real agent guard is an app that was created to prevent such dangerous situations from happening.  When you go to show a home or have an open house you open the app and set it for a specific amount of time.  If you fail to check in with the app within that amount of time, someone in your office is alerted.  Here is a little more info on the app:

  • Red – agents. Blue – friends and family. Green – enterprise.
  • If the agent fails to login after a small amount of time, it alerts someone who calls them to check in.
  • If something does go wrong, they can forward all info to the police

It’s so reassuring to know that there is an app that looks out for real estate agents.  It makes me that much more confident in the career that I chose!

Review: The Otter Way

The Otter Way Books

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by the Otter Way.  All opinions are my own.

I love Twitter, its my favorite place to connect with people and brands.  I’ve been tweeting since 2009, before I was married and before we had our two beautiful monsters.  And yet, sometimes the power of social media just amazes me.  I was contacted by the Otter Way through Twitter and immediately checked out their site.  They offer books, toys, games and printables to help teach kids healthy habits!  I was excited about the books and I wasn’t the only one!

The Otter Way Review and Discount Code

As soon as I opened the box, Ryley was asking “Is that for us momma?”  [Yes, honey!  They are for yall.]  First we had to talk about what an otter was and that the girl was named “Cristi” and the boy was named “Crispin”.  Then we checked out the books.  We sat on the couch and went through the whole collection, the kids holding their otters the whole time.

The Otter Way Books

The books are the nice sturdy cardboard kind and they come in a cool display box.  Ryley really loved the Have Nice, Clean Hair book and we read that one several times.  It was neat to see her start to understand why we wash our hair [and face and brush our teeth] through the books.

otter way review

We are in the midst of attempting potty training with Avery so I was very excited about the potty time book.  We read the book and asked questions along the way.  The Otter Way books feature the Teach 2 system which emphasizes learning together and having fun while doing it.  Yes, yes, yes!  Thats basically my parenting philosophy summarized.

the Otter Wat Review

The kids have played with their otters every day for the past 2 weeks.  Crispin has a sweater and the zipper really works!  Avery zips it up and down all the time.  He also has to have his otter to sleep at night.  [I would take a picture but he’s a light sleeper and my number one rule is never wake a sleeping baby!  Or toddler.]

The Otter Way Books 2

The books or the otters [or both!] would make a great Christmas or birthday gift for the little people in your life.  We loved them so much and I know you will too.  The amazing people over at the Otter Way have also given my readers an exclusive 50% discount code!  [How awesome is that?!]  The code is good off your entire order!  When ordering use code: TGL50

Happy ordering!  We know yall with love the otters as much as we do!

Review + Giveaway: Icon Wall Stickers

Disclosure: I received a product to help with my review.  All opinions are my own.  Read my full disclosure policy here.

A few weeks back I was sent a wall sticker from Icon Wall Stickers to review.  I spent a hot minute looking over the site because I found what I wanted almost immediately.  I ordered it and within a few days a long skinny tube with my purchase arrived.  Can you guess what I got?

If you guessed an avocado, you were very close.  [I searched, but they didn’t have any on the site.]  But there is something that I love more then avocados.  I know thats hard to believe because I really love avocados.  But its true.  I love something even more then my favorite green fruit.  [Its a fruit.  I googled it.]  I ordered an anchor wall sticker!  And not just any anchor sticker, a THREE FOOT anchor sticker!  Yes, seriously!

Ok, Im going to be honest.  Ordering a three foot anchor decal sounded great at the time.  I was literally giddy for it to get here but then it did and I panicked.  How the heck was I going to put a THREE FOOT anchor sticker on my wall AND NOT MESS IT UP!  I was worried, so I called my mom over to help and we got to work.  The sticker came in two pieces and I was nervous the whole time.  What if it didn’t match up?  What it if wrinkled?  What if I hated it?  Ok that last one was dramatic.  Of course I was going to love a THREE FOOT anchor in my bedroom!

And of course my worrying was unnecessary because the decal was SO easy to put up and it came out perfect.  So perfect that my kids thought I had painted it on the wall, and I just told them yes.  Because Im super mom and I can paint three foot anchors on textured walls.  They dont need to know the truth until they are older.

Now the best part of this whole story is that Icon Wall Stickers has offered one lucky winner the chance to win their own decal!  ANY decal!  [You can totally order a three foot anchor too!]  Enter below and good luck!  Ps.. the winner has to email a picture of the wall sticker they picked though!  Im nosy like that yall.

Review: Lean Cusine #HonestlyGood

Lean Cuisine review

Disclaimer: “This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Lean Cuisine, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #HonestlyGood #ad”  Read my full disclosure here.

I think I need to put another disclaimer that I really like Lean Cuisine meals to begin with.  I think that they are a great way to kick start a new diet or to help stick with an existing one.  I normally have one or two in the freezer in case I need a quick meal to eat.  I love that they are low calories but still very tasty.  I was excited to try the new Honestly Good meals because they use all natural and wholesome ingredients.  I made sure to grab a few when I was at Target.

Selection of Lean Cuisines at Target

Sometimes its hard to still to your diet though, like when you get sick.  Last week I got sick and I wasn’t able to eat so out went my diet plan.  I went almost a week with crackers and milkshakes because my stomach hurt so much.  Nothing sounded good to me because I was in so much pain after I ate.  I went to the ER [because I wasn’t able to get in and see my doctor], was given medicine and sent on my way.

Honestly Good Lean Cuisine review

I started to feel better a few days later and was actually excited to try the new Lean Cuisine meals.  I went from not being able to look at food to sheer giddiness over the new meals.  Why?  Because I know that Lean Cuisine makes great tasting, low calorie meals that are easy to prep.  My taste buds were back and they wanted a Lean Cuisine.  [And since we are being honest, once my taste buds came back I ate everything.  But these were high up on my list.]

Lean Cuisine review

I grabbed the Honey Citrus Chicken, Pomegranate Chicken, and the Pineapple Black Pepper Beef.  [They also carry Lemongrass Salmon, Plum Ginger Grain-Crusted Fish, and Roasted Red Pepper Chicken meals.]  I really liked how the meals had a nice portion of meal and veggies but also a side of carbs.  [Momma loves her carbs, yall.]  The Honey Citrus Chicken has a lemon flavored pasta, which went great with the chicken and the broccoli mix.  Another thing that I loved was that you poured your own sauce.  Some meals are covered in sauce or don’t have enough, but the Lean Cuisines allow you to put the amount you want.

Lean Cuisine Honestly Good meals

My chicken meal covered the whole plate and was only 320 calories.  I wasn’t able to eat the whole Honestly Good meal because there was so much food.  I liked the Pineapple Beef just as much and can’t wait to try the Pomegranate Chicken.  The new Lean Cuisines are exactly what my taste buds and my diet needed to keep going.

Review: Clearasil Superfruit Scrub

clearsil review

Disclosure: “This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Clearasil, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #SuperFruits”

When the opportunity came to review the Clearasil’s NEW! Daily Clear Refreshing Superfruit Cleansers, I jumped at the chance.  I don’t have acne, I have psoriasis.  And unfortunately I recently had a breakout and I have some on my face.  It stinks.  Not the end of the world but it makes me self conscience and uncomfortable sometimes.  So I headed to Wal-Mart to see if the new products could help with my skin.

clearsil review

There is something about walking down the skin care aisle that always makes me feel like Im in high school.  I remember battling acne when I was in high school and it felt like the worst thing ever.  I thought people were looking and making fun of me, but in reality Im sure they suffered with acne too.

I grabbed the Clearasil’s NEW! Daily Clear Refreshing Superfruit Cleansers at Wal-Mart to try on my psoriasis and made sure to use the $1 off coupon at  I decided to try the Superfruit scrub, hoping that it would gently exfoliate the psoriasis away.

The Superfruit scrub smells great and is also not overly grainy.  I’ve tried other scrubs before and they are harsh and irritate my skin.  I’m on a super high dose of steroid for the psoriasis on the rest of my body but I can’t use it on my face.   It seemed to be just what I needed!  So I threw on a headband and gave it a try.

clearsail superfruit review

It didn’t get sudsy when I rubbed it on, it was just so gentle and refreshing.  I washed it off and my skin felt amazing!  I think I ran my hands over my face ten times because it felt so soft.  I was surprised because I didn’t think such a gentle scrub would make my skin for so great.  And it exfoliated my psoriasis without irritating it!  Can you tell Im sold on the NEW! Daily Clear Refreshing Superfruit Scrub?  Yup!  I am!

Make sure to grab your $1 off coupon here and try it for yourself.

Review: Green Giant Veggie Snacks

We were sent two bags of Green Giant Veggie Snacks to try this past week.  Im not sure who was more excited – the kids or myself.  The kids are big chip eaters and I haven’t found a chip that they don’t like to eat yet.  I, on the other hand, have found many chips that I don’t like them to eat.  Namely the ones with tons of artificial ingredients that you can’t pronounce.  Those are the chips that we try to avoid.  So when the Green Giant veggie snacks came in the mail we were excited together.

Green Giant Veggie Chips Key Visual 1

We received two bags in the mail – the sweet potato barbecue veggie snacks and the veggie tortilla chips in zesty cheddar.  When we got the box I already had it set in my mind that I was going to take pictures of the chips and then let the kids try them.  Well that didn’t happen.  Avery saw what was in the box and immediately grabbed the veggie tortilla chips for himself.

I wanted to take pictures of the chips but I also wanted to enjoy my son sitting quietly for a hot second.  So, we watched a cartoon or two and snacked on the chips.  He was upset when I went to put the bag in the pantry.  Im pretty sure he liked them.  And mama did too!

Besides the fact that they taste good, they are also made with real vegetables.  Plus, I can pronounce the ingredients on the back of the bag and my kids like them.  My kids really like them.  I added the sweet potato barbecue chips to their lunch yesterday and my daughter asked for more chips when she got home.

Ryley liked the barbecue chips best, Avery liked the veggie chips and I liked both.  The sweet potato had a unique flavor.  It was barbecue-y and then sweet with a little bit of kick to it.  It was different, but good.  These were definitely a winner at the Grant house!

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

What is your favorite chip to snack on?

Review: Jelly Beans

jellies are back

“This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Jelly Beans but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #JellysAreBack

It makes me laugh when things come back in style from when I younger.  I think I would be the coolest mom on the block if I had kept my Bongo jeans, my Air Force Ones, and my Furby.  [I mean cooler then I am now, clearly.]  I would have loved to pass those down to Ryley one day.  One thing that I can share with my daughter are jellies!  I wore jelly sandals when I was younger and I am excited because jellies are back!

jellies are back

We received a pair to review and it was up in the air if they would send a pair for Ryley or me.  When I opened the package I realized they were too small for me, and was kinda sad for a minute.  [Mom of the year, I know.]  Then Ryley saw her new shoes and was so happy.  She kept talking about her new pink shoes and has worn them every day since they came in the mail.

jellies review

I really like the fact that they fit true to size.  I’ve ordered shoes online before and they are either way to big or she grows out of them in a week.  She is a nine and the nines fit perfectly.  Plus, they are easy to put on and she can do it herself without having to remove the strap.  [Ah, the magic of jellies.]

Ryley and her jellies

When I picked her up from school the first full day she wore them, the teacher told me that Ryley had said her feet hurt.  Im pretty sure it was just her getting use to the new shoes because she hasn’t complained about them since or worn a different pair of shoes.  [And girlfriend has some shoes.]  They also are on the expensive side for sandals.  I don’t remember how much jellies cost when I was little but I don’t think they were as pricey.  But they do have free shipping in the US, so thats a plus.

Ryley roo

It will be fun to see the other things that come back in style and I can share with Ryley.  Itll be neat to say I wore that, or had that toy when I was a little girl.  For now Im happy to share Jelly Beans with her and see what other things come back around.

How to Make Iced Coffee

How to Make the Best Iced Coffee via

Disclosure: I was sent Seattle’s Best Coffee to try.  All opinions are my own.

I remember the first time I tried Seattle’s Best coffee.  I was flying from Texas to Michigan in college and there was a Seattle’s Best near my gate at the Atlanta airport.  I must have lived in a bubble because I hadn’t heard of them before but was intrigued by a coffee that claimed to be the ‘best’.  I had one of their frozen blends and was hooked.  I told my mom about them and now its one of the only coffees she drinks.

So when I was as Blissdom and heard they were hosting breakfast one day, you better believe I high tailed it down stairs early.  [And by early I mean 8:30.]  When a Seattle’s Best rep emailed me after the conference I was might done a coffee happy dance.  They sent an amazing box of goodies with instructions on how to make iced coffee at home.  Y’all, its so easy!  Here’s how to make iced coffee.

How to Make the Perfect Iced #Coffee via thegrantlife

You will need:

  • 2 Containers with tops
  • 2 1/2 Cups cold water
  • 1 1/2 Cups ground Seattle’s Best Coffee
  • Filters

how to make the best iced coffee

  1. Pour 1 cup of the cold water over your coffee.  Stir gently.  Slowly pour the remaining water over the mixture.
  2. Cover and let ‘brew’ at room temperature for at least 12 hours.
  3. Place a filter over your second container and strain out the coffee grounds.  [This took me awhile because I used a carafe with a small top.]
  4. Pour over ice and add your favorite cream .

the best part

You can store the concentrated iced coffee mix for up to two weeks in the fridge.  Or drink it all at once.  [No judgment.]

How to Make the Best Iced Coffee via

My coffee came out a bit too concentrated.  I used the amounts that Seattle’s Best suggested but it was super strong, even after a very generous amount of creamer.  I am going to try and see if it comes out a bit milder with a different coffee to water ratio.  Im willing to try.  [All for the love of coffee!]

Enter to win a Seattles Best coffee pack at Now my favorite part!  Im giving away a Seattle’s Best goodie box to one reader!  It comes packed with:

  • a month supply of coffee
  • 2 travel cups
  • a coffee scoop
  • a Malita single cup brewing cone

Best Anniversary Card Ever

happy anniversary cards

Disclaimer: I was given a free card from to review.  All opinions are my own.

Our anniversary was last week and we were able to go out to a nice dinner without the kids.  Its nice to be able to go out and not have to worry about anyone throwing a fit or spilling their drink.  I realized half way through dinner that we were even able to have normal conversations that didn’t revolve around the kids.  I know that sounds silly but sometimes we get so focused on them that we sometimes forget to take time to talk about us.  We didn’t do gifts this year (we are saving for a house and a big 5th year trip!) but I did get Ryon the best anniversary card ever.

happy anniversary cards

How cool is that custom card from!  We went to dinner a few days before our anniversary date and I took this picture outside the restaurant.  Ryon thought it was awesome that we just took the picture and a few days later it was turned into a card.

I uploaded the picture to the site and was able to make a customized anniversary card that we both loved.  They have a bunch of super cute cards to choose from, it was hard to choose which one to order.

cardstore review

Once you pick your card and upload your photo you are able to customize the text inside!  Ryon loved the little note that was inside the card.  I even got an ‘Awwww!’ out of him!  He loved the card so much that he decided that we are going to do custom cards for Father’s Day for his dad and mine.

cardstore also has graduation cards, birthday cards, new baby cards and SO many more!  Plus, most cards are only $3.49 with FREE SHIPPING!  Honestly, thats cheaper then going out to the store, buying a card and mailing it off.  And its customized!

We both loved the card that we were able to review and we will be buying more for sure!

Whats your favorite occasion to send a card?

Consistent #MyResolution

I love that there is a feeling of renewal at the beginning of the New Year.  I have big plans but I haven’t made a resolution.  This year I’m focusing on being more consistent in all aspects of my life, especially my diet and exercise.

The thing with resolutions is that they are meaningless unless you create a plan to achieve them.  I cant say I want to fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes this year without some sort of action plan.  So Im saying – I want to fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes this year by being more consistent in eating better and going to the gym.  The gym part seems to be easy, the diet part – not so much.  My idea of healthy and my portions are way off and I tend to reach for that cookie way too often.  When I was asked to try out Diet-to-Go meals I jumped at the opportunity.

Here’s my sales pitch first:  Diet-to-Go is the most inexpensive diet delivery service that ships fresh meals.  They have 3 unique meals – low fat, vegetarian and regular with 20 plans to choose from.

Ok, so what does that mean?  For me it showed me the portions I should eat and what a healthy meal should consist of.  It also showed me that you can eat tasty food that’s good for you and not be hungry in an hour.  Most importantly, it showed me how easy it is to eat healthy.

I enjoyed the meals [especially the ones with pasta] but unfortunately a diet delivery service is not something I can afford all the time.  Another downfall is that I ended up cooking two meals – one for my family and the Diet-to-Go meal for myself.  What I realized is that its a great spring board for living a healthy lifestyle.  Its like having someone tell you what to eat and when without the actual person.

Other things that I loved about Diet-to-Go was that each meal had nutritional value on the packaging.  I was able to customize my food as well.  I added shredded cheese to my turkey burger instead of the sauce.

Interested in trying Diet-to-Go? Use the code NewYear2013 to get 25% off  any meal plan between 1/1/2013 – 1/8/2013.  Plus enter the 1000 meal giveaway on Diet-to-Go’s Facebook page for your chance to win free meals.  You can also follow them on Twitter.
