Master Bedroom Makeover + Giveaway!

bedroomangle

We moved into our new house a few months ago and I have so many projects on my list that need to get done.  I’ve done a few things [like cleaned my messy craft room] but have neglected most of my list.  Our master bedroom is at the top of our list so I stopped making excuses and at nap time I gave it a makeover with a little help from Cutting Edge Stencils.

I should have warned you to look away at the before picture if you get sick easily.  Yes, that is my bed under there.  Somewhere.

I chose the Outside the Box Allover stencil and used white acrylic paint.  Cutting Edge suggests using a foam roller with rounded edges to get the best result.  So I did.

Ta-da!  I should have had a drum roll or something.  It took me a little over an hour to do the whole wall.  The stencil was sturdy and easy to use.

Some words of wisdom on stenciling:

Dont worry about the small picture.  Wait until your whole wall is done to make a judgment.  This drove me crazy!

Clean your stencil throughout.  I didnt and there are splotches on the wall.

Take your time.  I painted during nap time so I was a little rushed.  Good thing Im not a perfectionist.

Not bad for an afternoon makeover huh?  Its even Ryley approved!

Ps.. Im giving away a $50 Cutting Edge Gift Certificate so you can makeover your house!  Enter below and make sure you send me pictures of your before and after!

I was given a Cutting Edge Stencil to review.  All opinions are my own.

Daydreamin’ – My Dining Room Makeover

diningroom
The house that we recently moved into has the weirdest layout.  Our living room and dining room are in the same area with no separation except some awkwardly placed pillars.  Then there is a wall that closes it all off from the kitchen.  The kitchen was a add on and it just boggles my mind how they lived without the extra room.

The space itself is large but we only have a small dining room table and it doesnt seem to flow very well.  And as you can see Ryley has decorated the chairs with stickers.  [She’s a talented little artist.]  On top of that the tile is old and outdated.  [Im not complaining.. I love this house and we are very blessed to be here!.. Im just pointing out the obvious.]

The one thing that my dining room needs is COLOR!  I need bright, beautiful colors to lighten up the room.  And we need a beautiful area rug that would break up the rooms.  And a long dining room table to fill the space.  And a modern chandelier.  And a little extra storage.  Oh and if I could win the World Market and HGTV Passport to Style Sweepstakes to make all this happen that would be great.

Art work//Chandelier// Kitchen Cart//Area rug //Chairs//Dining Room Table

Ive talked about my love for World Market and how I can walk through the store for hours.  They have the most amazing selection of furniture and rugs and art work that would look perfect in my dining room.  The colors are bright and light and would make the room so inviting.
And dont forget that World Market has their own rewards program for frequent shoppers like me [and you!].  World Market Explorer rewards you with coupons, offers, previews and gift certificates!  Like spend $100 and get a $10 gift certificate to use on anything in the store.  Or buy 6 bags of coffee and get the 7th free.  Just a little fun fact for yall.
Now if yall will excuse me, Im off to get in my daily entry for the Passport to Style Sweepstakes.

Inside My Messy Craft Room

craft%2Bmess%2BCollage-150
And just like that its October!  Instead of menu Monday this month Im participating in October Overhauling with Pinkapotamus and one of my all time favorite bloggers/person Amy from While Wearing Heels.  [And because we eat Halloween candy all month long anyways, right?  Just me?  Well then.]
October Overhauling

The rules to play along are EASY!
First and ONLY RULE:
No buying craft supplies from Oct 1 – Oct 31st (but you can trade with other bloggers!)
Week 1:   Share your messy craft area!
Week 2:  Clean out your craft area so that it is organized and neat and share your progress!
Week 3:  Make 1 project from your existing craft stash!
Week 4:  Share your experience, what you created and how happy you are NOT to be embarrassed by your craft hoarding anymore!

I really have no excuses for how messy my craft room is right now but Im going to use the following anyways:
1. We just moved
2. I have two toddlers
3. No one needs to go in there
4. I would rather do other things
Also, let me say that its not just a craft room, but a music room and a trophy room.  What kind of trophies?  Deer my friends, deer.  Only in Texas does your craft room share space with mounted animals.
We have a keyboard set up in the there for the kids.  They love to tinker with it while I attempt to craft. Oh and we also have a suitcase from our Michigan trip and a few unpacked boxes.  And did I mention deer?
My crafting desk is old and completely cluttered.  I definitely need to find a way to organize everything without spending money [part of the challenge] and out of reach of little hands.
To be fair I didnt pick up at before I took pictures.  Its part of the challenge to clean so why do it twice?  Duh.
Check back next week to see if I am able to clean up my little space.  On an unrelated note, anyone want to have a cleaning party?  Snacks are provided!

Fall Mantel

fallmantel1
Its almost fall yall!  I love this time of the year.. the transition from summer to fall.. fall to winter.  The cooler weather, the fun clothes, apple cider.  Oh and I love fall decorations too.  My favorite decoration to use?  Pumpkins!  And lots of them.

We recently moved into our first home [squeal!] and it has the most gorgeous mantel that is perfect for decorating.  I shared my very first mantel over at my friend Emily’s site, 52 mantels.  She’s like the queen of mantels.

The clock was a wedding present and will probably be a constant on our mantel.  It gives me a middle point and is just pretty.  Hello little pumpkins!  Hello fall!

The black basket came from the dollar bins at Target and the twine ‘vase’.. well thats an old Dora sippy cup.  I was unpacking boxes and found two of them that did not have all their parts.  Ryley immediately started chanting ‘Dora Dora Dora’ and I tried to keep her busy while I hot glued twine on it.  Didnt fool her.  She picked up the cup and said ‘Where Dora go momma?’  Mom of the year.. right here.

The pumpkins, the acorns and the frame all came from Michaels.  The little acorns are scented and smell so good!  The other Dora cup vase.
I used my Silhouette to print out the fall banner [bunting?.. whats the difference?] and the pumpkins in the frames.  Twine and clothespins hold it all together.

Hello fall!  Hello ridiculously large pictures of my beautiful babies!  [Seriously.. who doesnt have 16×20 pictures of their kids?  Huh?]  What do you do to celebrate fall?  Do you love pumpkins as much as I do?

Im Obsessed with Crosses

crossesonthewall
Im obsessed with crosses.  Its true.  [And you thought it was only anchors!]  Last month when our Texas Bloggers was having a skype date all the girls commented on the crosses behind me.  I gave them a mini tour and promised to share more later.  Well today is later.  If that makes sense.. just say yes.

This is our living room full o’ crosses.  I wanted a fun pattern and my momma helped me make this wave that goes all around the room.  [Yes my living room is teeny tiny.. but I love it.]
This is the back wall of the living room.  Its also the wall that my video cam points towards so this is what you see when/if we skype.

This is the main wall of the living room.  I have been collecting crosses for almost ten years now.  Each one is special to me and reminds me of an important time in my life.. although they all special since they represent Jesus dying for our sins.  [Got serious about my faith there.]

Hands down my absolute favorite cross in my collection.  It is stained glass from Ryon’s old church that was destroyed by a tornado.  He told me that in the old church people saved up money in order to buy the stained glass windows and that etched in each window were the names of the people who donated.  I love that.  Ryon and I were married in the new St. Johns in 2009.  I love that too.
I bought this cross at a little boutique in town with my mom.  I love shopping with my mom and I love the message on the cross.  Plus its beachy.. which we all know Im nuts about.

This little guy was my first attempt at making a beaded cross.  I have this problem where I see something I like and I instantly want to make it myself.  Beaded crosses are just one of my many diy projects that I pick up and put down and pick back up again.  Watch out.. you may see a beaded cross in the loveables store soon.

God Bless Texas cross was the last cross I bought in Texas before moving to Michigan.  I stopped by my aunts flower shop on our way out of Texas and my aunt gave it to me as a going away present.  [Ok.. so I didnt buy it.].  It hung proudly in our Michigan apartment and now its back in the great state of Texas.  [No offense other states.]
These are my entryway crosses.  Maybe I should have started with this?  Nah.. too predictable.  Im pretty sure all four of those crosses on the left came from Hobby Lobby.  Hi fifty percent off all wall decor.. nice to see you again.

My sister in law [my older brothers wife] gave me this beauty one Christmas.  Its cedar and huge and gorgeous and I love it.
Onto our spacious dining room.  [Aka eat in kitchen.. aka tiny.]  I dont have many crosses in the dining room but I really wanted to show these pictures of the kids.  They are my favorite pictures ever and they are HUGE.  I cant wait til they are older and these pictures totally embarrass them.

Few more crosses on the other side of the clock.. but more important our Ryley bear!  This was from her first birthday photo session.  She really didnt smile in any of her pictures.. but this was captures her personality perfectly.  Sassy and sweet at the same time.  [Ignore the mess underneath her picture. Thanks so much!]
You may remember this big guy from my little birdie wall art.  Hes one of my favies too.  Im pretty sure hes an outdoor cross but I like him indoors.  And he likes it indoors so he stays.
I hope yall like my tour of crosses!  I have to pack them all up and find a way to arrange them in the new house soon.  Just wanted to share with yall what they look like now and then maybe [mayyyybe] Ill show you how I set them up in the new place.  Ok.. I will.  You twisted my arm.
