Fitness: Im Smooth

Smooth Fitness

Disclosure: I received product or payment from Smooth Fitness.  All opinions are my own.

No, I don’t have sweet moves like Mick Jagger, but I do have something equally exciting.  I am a Smooth Fitness ambassador!  [Ok, maybe not as exciting as Mick Jagger moves, but pretty darn cool.]  As an ambassador I was sent a Smooth Fitness product and I get to share more of my weight loss journey with yall for the next few months.  I chose an elliptical for a few reasons.

Smooth Fitness

First, I hate running.  Im not a runner, I never was and I dont think I ever will be.  And thats OK!  It has taken me a long time to realize its ok to not like running.  Do I still run?  Yes.  Do I like it?  Not one bit.  But I don’t want my kids to dislike running because I do.  So we run around the front yard, we chase after butterflies or we play tag together.  Thats the only kind of running I really want to do.

Second, my mom suggested I get the elliptical so that she can use it to.  I thought that was a great idea!  She’s never been much of a workout person so when she said she wanted to start, I said ok!  Plus, I knew I was going to set up whatever I got at her house in her extra bedroom either way.  Our extra room is a playroom so the only place it would fit would be the living room.  Visions of kids climbing on top of exercise equipment did not excite me at all.  [It downright scared me.]  So its set up at my moms, where I go almost daily, for everyone to use.

I’ve been very lucky to have been given such amazing opportunities to continue my fitness journey.  And I’m very thankful.  Im also excited to have some awesome ladies join me as Smooth Fitness ambassadors!  Myself along with Candy from Candypolooza, Anjanette from Momma Young and Emily from DesignHER Momma will be sharing a few fitness posts each month.  It should be fun and hopefully we see some great results!

Yall, next time Im going to tell you about how fun it was to put together my elliptical and how it works.  Lets just say it wasn’t one piece and a few choice words were used in the assembly.  [You’ve been warned.]

New Smoothie Recipes

Green Machine

Last week was my first official week of dieting with Shaklee180.  And it went really good!  Like I get excited to make the smoothies in the morning and at night kinda good.  I’ve been experimenting every day and haven’t had the same thing twice, which is fun.  These are my morning recipes from last week, just in case you need a little smoothie inspiration.

Berry blast smoothie

Pink Lady:

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1 frozen banana

10 frozen raspberries

2 scoops vanilla powder

Berry Granola

Granola Power:

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1/4 cup granola

10 frozen rasberries

1 frozen banana

2 scoops powder

Green Machine

Green Machine:

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1 frozen banana

10 frozen raspberries

handful frozen spinach

2 scoops vanilla powder

Mocha Madness Shaklee180 smoothie

Mocha Madness:

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

2 scoops instant coffee

10 chocolate chips

2 scoops vanilla powder

Pink lady smoothie

Berry Good:

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

5-10 frozen strawberries

2 scoops vanilla powder

Spinach sounds gross but is actually very good!  Also, I don’t use ice for any of my smoothies – just frozen fruit.  It seems to help with the taste too since there isn’t any ice to water it down.

What is your favorite thing to add in smoothies?

Consistent #MyResolution

I love that there is a feeling of renewal at the beginning of the New Year.  I have big plans but I haven’t made a resolution.  This year I’m focusing on being more consistent in all aspects of my life, especially my diet and exercise.

The thing with resolutions is that they are meaningless unless you create a plan to achieve them.  I cant say I want to fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes this year without some sort of action plan.  So Im saying – I want to fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes this year by being more consistent in eating better and going to the gym.  The gym part seems to be easy, the diet part – not so much.  My idea of healthy and my portions are way off and I tend to reach for that cookie way too often.  When I was asked to try out Diet-to-Go meals I jumped at the opportunity.

Here’s my sales pitch first:  Diet-to-Go is the most inexpensive diet delivery service that ships fresh meals.  They have 3 unique meals – low fat, vegetarian and regular with 20 plans to choose from.

Ok, so what does that mean?  For me it showed me the portions I should eat and what a healthy meal should consist of.  It also showed me that you can eat tasty food that’s good for you and not be hungry in an hour.  Most importantly, it showed me how easy it is to eat healthy.

I enjoyed the meals [especially the ones with pasta] but unfortunately a diet delivery service is not something I can afford all the time.  Another downfall is that I ended up cooking two meals – one for my family and the Diet-to-Go meal for myself.  What I realized is that its a great spring board for living a healthy lifestyle.  Its like having someone tell you what to eat and when without the actual person.

Other things that I loved about Diet-to-Go was that each meal had nutritional value on the packaging.  I was able to customize my food as well.  I added shredded cheese to my turkey burger instead of the sauce.

Im Running a 5k!

Ive been training for a 5k for awhile using the Couch to 5 k program and I am so excited to say that I have signed up for a run!  And not just any race.. but the most amazing 5k run!  [This has not been proven but since its my first race it stands.. plus its pretty awesome looking.]  Im going to be running the 5k Foam Fest in April with some of my friends!

My friends that I am running with are avid runners and ran Foam Fest last month.  [They can attest to its greatness.]  Last night I went with them to an event at the university and accidentally ran a 3 mile run.  I didnt intend to run the race but I decided it would be good practice for Foam Fest.  It turned out to be a ton of fun because the kids were there.  Ryley and I ran the first half mile together and it cracked me up.  I love that she has an interest in running.

I know some of yall are runners and that running a 5k sounds like a walk in the park – but I am not a runner.  People say that running clears their head and they can think clearer but when I was running the only thing I was thinking was how much I hate running.  Running and I dont get along but I am determined to like it and fully intend to run all of Foam Fest.

So to all my running friends – what do you love about running?  What do you do to train for a run?  I would love love love to hear your tips and tricks!
