Our Morning Routine #NetflixKids

Netflix for kids offers a great variety of education shows

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of NETFLIX.  All opinions are my own, we just really enjoy NETFLIX.

Most days you can find the kids and I doing crafts or playing outside.  We like to do things that will keep their little minds and bodies active.  But my kids are like their momma and are not morning people.  We start off every fun filled day slow and with cartoons on Netflix.

We don’t have cable but my kids would never know it.  With Netflix at home they are able to watch their favorite Disney Jr, Hasboro and even PBS cartoons.  We love to watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Curious George and even Dinosaur Train to get our day going.

We have a wireless router and a small receiver box connected to the TV that allows us to stream shows.  Then we use the remote control to select our shows.  One of the things that I like is that I can search for shows by age.  It also gives me suggestions of shows that we might like to watch and our recently viewed shows.

Sometimes the kids will eat the breakfast at the coffee table so they can watch their cartoons.  I enjoy the quiet time I get in the mornings to drink my coffee and do a little reading before the kids are fully awake.  Plus half sleepy snuggles are the best.

What type of routine do you have in the mornings?

What are you watching on TV with your family? Netflix has family favorites from Disney, Disney Jr., Hasbro, Cartoon Network and Dreamworks that are available to stream anytime, anywhere.

And streaming is easier than you think! Download the free app on your iPad, click on the Netflix app on any gaming device, go to the website on your computer – and you’re in business. Check it out here!

New Smoothie Recipes

Green Machine

Last week was my first official week of dieting with Shaklee180.  And it went really good!  Like I get excited to make the smoothies in the morning and at night kinda good.  I’ve been experimenting every day and haven’t had the same thing twice, which is fun.  These are my morning recipes from last week, just in case you need a little smoothie inspiration.

Berry blast smoothie

Pink Lady:

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1 frozen banana

10 frozen raspberries

2 scoops vanilla powder

Berry Granola

Granola Power:

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1/4 cup granola

10 frozen rasberries

1 frozen banana

2 scoops powder

Green Machine

Green Machine:

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1 frozen banana

10 frozen raspberries

handful frozen spinach

2 scoops vanilla powder

Mocha Madness Shaklee180 smoothie

Mocha Madness:

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

2 scoops instant coffee

10 chocolate chips

2 scoops vanilla powder

Pink lady smoothie

Berry Good:

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

5-10 frozen strawberries

2 scoops vanilla powder

Spinach sounds gross but is actually very good!  Also, I don’t use ice for any of my smoothies – just frozen fruit.  It seems to help with the taste too since there isn’t any ice to water it down.

What is your favorite thing to add in smoothies?

There are two things that I love doing that seem to get me in trouble – shopping and eating.  They first one hurts our bank account and the second one goes straight to my thighs.  I have slowly been working on an exercise and diet routine that is simple to follow.  But yall.. its tough!  Not only do I have two toddlers to wrestle but I have a real problem with will power.  [I see it.. I like it.. I eat it.]  To help me I have started replacing lunch with a Lean Cuisine and began the Couch to 5k [C25K] program.
I purchased my Lean Cuisines at Sam’s Club – aka one of my favorite places to shop.  Their prices can’t be beat.  I was lucky to shop sans kids so I was in and out in less then 45 minutes although I did linger in the frozen food section for awhile.  I grabbed some apples and bananas for the kids and to snack on.  Im trying to keep good things in the house so Im not easily tempted.  [Harder then it sounds.]  Dont mind the ice cream and sweet tea, thats for the hubby.  Seriously.
I have been eating a Lean Cuisine every day for lunch and they are so good!  Each 6 pack comes with a Ginger Garlic Stir Fry, Sesame Chicken and Chicken Teriyaki.  I havent decided which one is my favorite yet.  I truly enjoy all of them.
I also downloaded the Couch to 5K app for my Blackberry.  It starts off slow with simple workouts like jog 60 seconds followed by walking for 90 seconds.  I have actually started running two days a week so on my off days I do this routine.  I go to the gym but once it cools down here I will run out at our park.  [Dear weather, please cool down soon!]
Im happy to say that with replacing one meal a day and working out with the Couch to 5K program I have more energy and have lost 3 pounds!  [Excuse my while I happy dance for a second.]  I am very excited to be on the right track and hopefully I will have my pre-baby body back one day.

The Letter ‘B’

Ryley started the letter ‘B’ this week at her daycare, so we painted some b words.  We did a baseball, a banana and a bear using her new tadoodles.  I also took an old paper towel center and cut it into pieces for her to color.  She didn’t really like coloring on it but loved to stack her paints on top.  The things that kids enjoy just amaze me.
Here is our banana painting.

What fun thing did you teach your little one today?

Organized blog

Instead of just willy-nilly blogging I decided I need a system.  So for each day of the week, my blog will be about something specific (at least one of the posts).  My posts will (try to) be as follows:

Monday – Menu Plan Monday
Tuesday – Teach It! Tuesday
Wednesday – We Tried It! Wednesday
Thursday – Thoughtful Thursday
Friday – Free Spirit Friday
Yes, I used my daughters toy to organize my blog.  :)  Hey whatever works right?  Let the (organized)posting begin!

I read that bean pouring is great for a little ones fine motor skills.  We didnt have any dry beans handy so I gave Ryley a half cup of flour one night.  I was amazed that it held her attention for so long!  I sat in front of her high chair and watched her pat, grab, pour and scatter the flour all over her tray for at least a half hour.  She really enjoyed herself and it was really easy to clean up.
Later that week we tried playing with rice with the same results.  She made it look like so much fun that I started playing with it too.  I loved to watch her face as we filled up the measuring cup, turned it over and the rice spilled out.  Although this was fun, I dont think we will be doing rice play anymore.  I am still finding pieces of rice everything!  It was a good time but probably the last.  :)
What do you do that entertains your little one for a good amount of time?
